Search Tips

• All fields use exact matches (e.g., a search for theologia christiana yields the exact phrase, including any spaces). To search for separate terms (e.g., theologia and/or christiana), use separate fields for each term.

• Authors can be searched as either John Calvin or Calvin, John.

• When the "Place" category is selected, searches return results for common place name variants (e.g., Geneva returns results for Genève, Genf, & Geneva). To search only for a particular variant (e.g. Genève), use the "Any" category.

• Topic, Genre, and Relation to Bible are only partially categorized and will return fewer results.

• Searches automatically recognize and return matches for a variety of equivalent early modern accents, ligatures, etc. (e.g., æ = ae / ju = iu / ß = ss).

• Searches are case insensitive.
